A Vastu Stainless Steel (SS) Metal Strip is a specialized remedial tool used in Vastu Shastra to correct elemental imbalances in a building without the need for structural demolition. It is primarily used to “block” or “neutralize” the negative energy of incorrectly placed toilets or entrances.
In the Vastu system of five elements (Pancha Tattva), Stainless Steel represents the Air and Space elements.
Primary Uses & Benefits
The SS strip is specifically used for the following “Space Surgery” techniques:
-
Toilet Blocking: If a toilet is located in a zone where it causes a Vastu defect (like the North or East), the strip is embedded in the floor around the toilet seat to “cut off” its negative drainage energy from the rest of the house.
-
Entrance Correction: To nullify the ill effects of an entrance located in an unfavorable direction, the strip is installed at the threshold to act as an energetic barrier.
-
Zone Balancing: Used in directions like West (W), West-North-West (WNW), and East (E) to stabilize the Air and Space elements.
-
Non-Destructive Remedy: It provides a way to fix “Vastu Dosha” without breaking walls or changing the floor plan.
Installation Process
To be effective, the strip must be installed vertically into the floor rather than just pasted on top:
-
Marking: Identify the area (around the toilet or across the doorway).
-
Cutting: Use a tile cutter to create a thin groove (about 1–1.5 inches deep) in the flooring or between tile joints.
-
Insertion: Insert the SS strip vertically into the groove. It should be a single continuous piece without joints.
-
Sealing: Fill the remaining gap with white cement or a matching floor grout to make it flush with the surface.
Why Stainless Steel?
Different metals are used for different directions. Stainless Steel is specifically chosen for its durability and its association with the West and North-West directions. Unlike iron, it is rust-proof, making it ideal for wet areas like bathrooms or coastal regions.
Note: Vastu experts usually recommend a specific metal based on the direction. For example, Copper is for the South, Brass for the South-West, and Aluminium for the North.
