North East Helix

In Vastu Shastra, a North East Helix (specifically a Zinc Helix) is a specialized remedial tool used to correct energetic imbalances in the North East corner of a home or office. This corner, known as the Ishanya zone, is considered the most sacred direction, governed by the Water element and associated with God/Spirituality.

Because the North East is where the “head” of the Vastu Purush (the spirit of the building) resides, any structural defect here is considered a “Maha Vastu Dosha” (major defect). The Helix is designed to neutralize these issues without requiring physical demolition.

Why Zinc?

Each direction in Vastu is paired with a specific metal and element.

• Metal: Zinc (sometimes called Zinc Chand due to its crescent or silver-like appearance).

• Element: Water.

• Purpose: Zinc is used here because it is believed to resonate with the calm, purifying energy of the Water element and the lunar (moon) vibrations, which are essential for the North East.

Common Vastu Defects Corrected

A North East Helix is typically used when the following “energy-blocking” structures are present in the North East corner:

• Toilets or Bathrooms: These are considered highly “impure” for a sacred zone and can cause health or financial stress.

• Kitchens: The Fire element of a stove conflicts with the Water element of the North East.

• Staircases or Pillars: These create “heavy” energy where there should be openness and light.

• Missing Corner (Cuts): If the North East corner of your floor plan is “cut” or missing, the Helix helps “energetically complete” the space.

• Overhead Water Tanks: While underground tanks are good here, overhead tanks are considered “heavy” and create a defect.
